We often hear that successful CEOs, ambitious entrepreneurs, and the relentless go-getters of the world all have one crucial thing in common. A well-structured morning routine consistently lays the essential foundation for not only a highly productive day but also a successful life overall. By establishing a thoughtful routine and actively cultivating positive habits, individuals can significantly enhance their ability to embrace a more organized, purposeful, and fulfilling life experience.

Personally, I used to struggle immensely with maintaining structure and even finding focus in my daily activities. However, since I began my days with a solid morning routine, I have seen a remarkable improvement in my mental health and overall productivity. As a devoted mother of a lively 7-year-old and an energetic 4-year-old, mornings around our home can often become quite hectic and overwhelming. Rising early, before everyone else awakens in the house, has truly been a transformative game changer for me! There is truly no price tag on the invaluable experience of having some peaceful alone time before your children are up and ready to start their day, allowing you to sip your coffee slowly, engage in prayer, enjoy a workout, take a refreshing shower, and get dressed before the wonderful chaos begins.

Before I share the details of what my particular morning routine looks like, I want to gently remind you that building these transformative habits takes time and patience. Even if you begin by incorporating just one small habit at a time on a weekly basis, you will undoubtedly feel a tremendous sense of accomplishment and self-worth. The key here lies in your commitment to trying and holding yourself accountable. Additionally, consider enlisting the support of a friend who can help you stay on track and provide motivation along your journey.

Gentle Wake Up:I find that trying to wake up at the notoriously early hour of “5:00 AM” may be considered ideal for some individuals; however, it may not be the most suitable or realistic choice for everyone. I distinctly remember following an author and influencer who fervently preached that waking up at 5:00 AM would lead to unparalleled success and exponential productivity. I must say, I call bullshit on that narrow viewpoint. Instead, I advocate for waking up gently and at a time when you genuinely feel the most rested and refreshed, allowing your body to complete its natural sleep cycle. Prioritize getting your full 7 to 8 hours of restorative sleep and wake up with sufficient time to cultivate the following habits that contribute to a more balanced and fulfilling day:

Hydrate: I usually sleep with a large 40oz water bottle conveniently right by my bedside, ensuring that I can easily access it throughout the night. After I brush my teeth in the morning, I make it a point to chug at least 20 oz of refreshing water to kickstart my day. I know that some individuals truly appreciate the invigorating effect of starting their day with a splash of lemon water mixed into warm water, which is indeed a wonderful option for those looking to enhance their hydration routine. However, it may not always be the ideal choice if you wish to efficiently fit in other important tasks before everyone else in your household awakens and begins their day.

Exercise: If you find yourself in a situation similar to mine, living with Hashimoto’s, which is also known as Hypothyroidism, I highly recommend incorporating gentle movement into your morning routine, such as leisurely walking or engaging in light weight training practices. Even dedicating a brief 15-minute stint to walking or any form of movement can significantly boost your energy levels and greatly enhance your overall productivity and mental clarity for the day ahead. Embracing these small but effective actions can make a remarkable difference in how you feel throughout your daily activities.

A Mindful Moment: A mindful moment can encompass a wide range of meanings and interpretations for each person. For some, it may signify a tranquil moment of meditation or a peaceful pause in silence. Personally, I find that a mindful moment involves not only setting a daily intention but also engaging in some heartfelt prayer that helps to center my thoughts. Additionally, journaling and practicing gratitude are wonderful ideas that many people passionately advocate for, as these activities can foster a deeper connection to oneself and promote a sense of well-being.

Mental task force: For me, the mental task of prioritizing my daily activities simply means taking the time to write down all the things that I need to focus on and prioritize for the day ahead. This thoughtful exercise helps me to plan effectively and prepare myself for what lies ahead. Of course, not all things always go exactly to plan, but having this written structure provides me with a greater sense of organization and direction throughout my day.

Shower: I sometimes may do my mental task force as I shower. This is also a great opportunity for a tranquil moment of silence while enjoying the sound of the water. Once I shower and get dressed, its GO TIME.

Breakfast: I strive to always have a well-balanced breakfast to kickstart my day. It’s important to nourish yourself with adequate protein and wholesome nutrients to get you started on the right foot! This mindful approach not only fuels my body but also sets a positive tone for the day ahead. My go to breakfast is a Chocolate Protein smoothie by Equip.
